Saturday, March 28th at 2 p.m. at the Erie Canal Terminus in downtown Buffalo. Come join in and show the Weasels in Washington and the Anal Pores in Albany that they've gone too far, and we aren't going to stand for it anymore! |

Reply with quote | #2 | I've heard the pros and cons for involvement in tea parties, but it comes down to one thing. Not whether or not marching in this form of protest will actually accomplish anything, but to show that we truly are not the minority. Shear numbers of those who oppose what is happening in Albany and Washington will speak louder than the minority who are on the receiving end of our tax dollars. We need to show people like chuck schumer that "we," the chattering class do care about how our money is spent and that we will not allow the waste to continue anymore. Fear of the next election cycle returns may get our message across clearer than the letters we've been sending to our officials. If our politicians start seeing more people in protest over there abuse of the tax payers and our rights, they may start to think a bit more about what they are imposing upon the public. After all, politicians who fear the public are going to be politicians who consider the publics interest.
We cannot throw the bums out soon enough, but we can get their attention and force them to draw back on their encroachment of our liberties and income. It has to start somewhere, so why not here?

Reply with quote | #3 | I agree totally. I have sent email and letters to Schumer and Gillebrand, but all I get are non-answers, such as 'thanks, but I get soooo much mail I can't possibly answer them all'. So I called, and IF you get thru (I think Chuckie leaves his phone off the hook) all you get is lip. I actually had some flunkie of Chuckie's arguing with me yesterday on the phone. Instead of saying "thanks for letting Senator Schumer know your opinion"...(as he should have since Chuckie works for ME, not me for him) I got an argument from the guy and was told that Chuckie disagreed with me.
The only thing the weasels in Washington and Albany understand is numbers. They aren't paying attention to their email, etc. So now we need numbers and voices. And PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES... |

Reply with quote | #4 | While events like this are good ways for ordinary citizens to express their disgust at the government, we all know that the politicians don't give a rat's behind what any of us think.
It's time for the people to call on the states to call for a constitutional convention so that we can replace the current government with one that meets our needs. __________________ "No nation [has] a right to inter-meddle in the internal concerns of another; and that, if this country could, consistent with its engagements, maintain a strict neutrality and thereby preserve peace." - George Washington - |

Reply with quote | #5 | I too have sent letters to our officials. Many times you get no response, or as in the case of slaughter, I get a response weeks after the fact saying: "Well, it's too late for you... the stimulus is a done deal....blah,blah,blah...." Not to mention, the repetition of the obamination rhetoric that it's going to make the entire world rejoice.... It wasn't a done deal when I contacted you! I also called "Chuck U"schumer's office. I think the person answering the phone was afraid to say too much after I unloaded. He should have left the phone off the hook; after trying for three hours, I was only more frustrated, and they got the brunt of it that which quickly turned to rage.
This only goes to show who is really running our government; and it's not us. We may pay their salary, like a state or federal worker, but they don't realize that WE are their employer. Our voices aren't heard, or perhaps even really matter. I sincerely believe that someone else really is pulling the strings, whether it be unions, industry, the wealthy, special interest..... what have you. We have lost government for the people, by the people and gone over to government upon the people by those who can afford to influence it. After all, if we really mattered, they'd listen and vote accordingly. Perhaps the parties are the first step. First, we throw the symbolic tea; then maybe, if needed, we start throwing the politicians. Proceeding from there as needed!
Oddly enough, the leftist talk about helping the little guy, and the shrinking middle class. It's their policies and ideals that have been leading towards the loss of the middle class, and imprisonment of the poor to social programs, reductions in the job base, and the list can go on. The more these failed policies increase in number, the larger government grows and consumes from those of us who it claims to represent; the less representation we truly have and the more it cost us in not only prosperity, but liberty.
Furthermore, this tactic of waging class warfare is only to further promote government involvement in promoting equality..... Equality decided by who? Decided by society, law, or a government official? We are continuing down a slippery slope, and it's dropping off fast. It is imperitive at this time that we come together and join hands to work together or we are going to fall victim to the sweeping wind of government which is bound to hit our backs and take us over the cliff to complete oppression.
It is time for torches and pitchforks, but we should be preparing to pick up our muskets next. Symbolic tea is not a serious threat to tyrants. Torches and pitchforks makes them take notice; but the only way to halt their agenda of oppression is to be seen as serious. Let's not forget our nations founding......
